Girly Zig Zag Quilt
A friend at church asked me to make this quilt for her new baby girl. She picked the fabrics and I helped her design it. It turned out really soft and cozy with flannel on the back. She also wanted her initials and a heart stitched in the corner, which I loved. Happily, she loved it too and every time I see her she has her baby snuggled in it. Warms my quilty heart!

Recovered Kitchen Chairs
Ta Da! New Kitchen Table! Well, sort of...
I recovered our kitchen chairs with TONS of help from my mom! (I was so tired by the end she was practically doing it for me.) But, still I love this long awaited project and that it's finished.
In the short time we've had this table and chairs we've piled on the spills and stains like you wouldn't believe. Eww & Gross. I was embarrassed to have company sit on them. Sure we have kids, but still you wonder what you're sitting on. Problem solved.... now they are cute AND practical. I covered the chairs with clear vinyl over the fabric. They are a little noisy to sit on but totally worth the easy clean up.
I bought one cut of fabric, enough for two chairs, to try it out at first. When I went back to the store a few days later the whole roll of fabric was gone! Of course it was out of stock online too. I couldn't believe it. Thankfully I traveled to another store in another city and they had the fabric. Phew. Next time I'll get all my project materials at once, just in case.

Christ Centered Easter Ornaments
I searched for some Christ centered Easter DIY decorations and it took awhile to find something I loved. Here's what i made! These ornaments turned out to be really inexpensive too! 7 paint stirring sticks from Home Depot for free. Scrapbook paper, acrylic paint and wire all bought on sale so this project was about $2.50! I thought if i made them ahead of time (about a month ago) I'd for sure get them up by Easter . Nope. Looks like this year's project was making them. Next year's project will be displaying them. Even though these are perfect for Christmas too I purposely used Spring colors so I'd use them for Easter. Next year I'll plan on getting a branch for the mantle or something else to hang them on. The blog Todays Fabulous Finds is where I got these free names of Christ printables and instructions on how to do it.

Crochet Dish Cloths
The first thing I learned to crochet was a dish cloth. (Photograph of my first few attempts still pending. They are funny!) I use 100% cotton from Sugar 'n Cream, and I have found them to be so durable, useful, and pretty. It's just nice to do something that is a drudgery with something pretty! The pattern that I'm really liking right now is a simple HDC all the way through with a J hook. It comes out really soft, and simple. You can wash them a billion times and they still look great. I love them!

Hats!
I have a thing for making crochet hats. Probably because they are the quickest thing to make and I have no project patience. I want it done in one sitting. So here's a hat I made a while ago and had in my shop, but I didn't love it. Something about the colors, or the hat part was too masculine for the the flower. So today I split them up, and I like it much better.
Both are now for sale in my shop: marquittashop.storenvy.com
Here is the hat I started with. I folded it wrong, picture the flower further over to the side. |
I took the flower off and added it to this one. So cute for a tiny baby girl, right? |
And made this one into a football! I never would have thought of that myself, my other sister-in-law gave me the idea. |

Wreath Night: Chevron & Pom Pom
I'm not going to lie, I've considered wreaths with just a thin layer wrapped around wreath forms to be a bit wimpy and weird looking. I prefer the big, poofy ones. But, I gave these two a try with the help of my mom. My friend Danielle had a wreath making night so I joined in. Can't go wrong with patriotic chevron.
And here's my pom pom one with directions found here. I attached the bow with a glue gun. Now I wish I would have just pinned it so it was interchangeable. Plus i glued it a little too high for my liking. Oh well. Still, it's one more wreath than I had before!

Glittery Texas
I guess I am a girl at heart. I love glitter! When I saw this crafty décor I thought I better try it. Plus I was hosting a craft night and wanted to try it out before I offered to be the purchaser of supplies and answerer of all questions about it. I had an inward debate on what state to do- my home state? my birth state? the state my husband and I were married? lived longest in?.... well, decided on Texas. After 5 years I admit that famous Texas pride is infiltrating me and the rest of the family. Heehaw!
The blog tutorials I used as guides for this project were from Effortless Chic and Two Twenty One. The site I found for the perfect sized states (these fit into an 8x10 opening, frame from IKEA) was http://www.theus50.com/outlinemaps-state.php . I printed out 7 different states and all fit just right!

Jungle Quilt
I started quilting and crochet in 2013 and I am still learning. There is a LOT of trial and error in my life! One of these days when I do the laundry I will post a picture of all the wonky dish cloths I crocheted when I was learning. I kept them and use them to remind me that practice makes perfect! This quilt is not perfect, but it's a lot better than my first one, that's for sure.
The back is my favorite. I love dots!

Crochet Baby Booties
Part of the reason I wanted to learn to crochet was all of the precious little newborn shoes. Turns out, they don't stay on very well (hardly any baby shoes do), but they are pretty quick to make since they are so tiny, and they're just so cute!

Hello, and a crochet basket
Oh hi! My name is Allison Jensen (just like the original owner of this blog, ha!) and I have recently joined forces here on Allison Made It. We are excited to post things together here and stay connected through our crafting.
Here is a crochet basket I made for my bedroom. It holds....diapers:) And wipes and bum cream. Glamorous, I know. It matches our room perfectly and has been most useful.
